About Me

Hello, and welcome to my Web page. I am happy to introduce myself and my practice to you. Kaiser Permanente is a wonderful place to work. I look forward to getting to know you and caring for all of your surgical needs.

Biography

I was born and raised in Southern California and did my undergraduate studies at UC Irvine. My medical studies took me to New York City, where I attended the Albert Einstein College of Medicine for medical school and Columbia University for my surgical training. The U.S. Navy brought me back to Southern California after completing my surgical residency. I started my Navy career as the ships surgeon for the USS Nimitz, followed by an additional year of training at UCLA in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery. I returned to San Diego at the Naval Medical Center (Balboa Hospital). During my time when I was attached to the hospital, I was deployed with the 1st Marines to Iraq with a forward surgical unit. I finished my naval career at Balboa Hospital as the director of bariatric and minimally invasive surgery. Once I completed my naval commitment, I came to Kaiser Permanente in San Diego to continue my surgical career.

About my practice

My practice is a broad-based general surgical practice, including hernias, gallbladder, acute care emergencies, and gastrointestinal, colon, breast and skin cancers. In addition, I have specialty training and experience in minimally invasive or laparoscopic surgery, which includes bariatric, foregut, and colon surgery.

How I thrive

My family is a major focus of my life and the way I thrive. I coach my daughters’ softball team and stay active in their schooling. As a family, we strongly believe in family meals, movies, and walks. When time permits, I like to enjoy a round of golf with friends, colleagues, or family.
