About Me

Thank you for visiting my Web page. It is my pleasure to serve as your physician. Your health is my primary goal, and I hope together we can partner in your healthcare.

Biography

Born and raised in Armenia, my cultural background has served as the foundation for my personal and professional endeavors. Going into medicine and becoming a surgeon was my way of using my skills and knowledge to connect with a community that is often a minority and experiences disparity in medical care. I am acutely aware of the importance of cultural sensitivity in medical practice, and have a particular passion for working with people of various ethnicities and socioeconomic backgrounds. My surgical training has taken me to different parts of the world, starting in Yerevan, Armenia, where I completed medical school and surgical residency. After coming to the United States, I repeated my surgical training at University of Southern California, and Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in minimally invasive colorectal surgery at USC.

About my practice

I am honored to be on staff in the General Surgery Department at Kaiser Permanente Panorama City since 2011. My colleagues and I have become close friends and professional partners. The variety of patients I meet and treat each day makes my job exciting and gratifying. I believe in treating my patients as I would my own friends and family members. I strive to provide patients holistic care to address not only their physical ailments, but also to strike a balance between mind, body, and spirit. I attend to a full spectrum of general surgical cases, including hernias, disorders of the gallbladder, thyroid, and breast, as well as gastrointestinal diseases, with a special interest in minimally invasive colorectal and anal surgical techniques.

How I thrive

I am very connected to my community, and enjoy spending time with my family, friends, and my miniature bull terrier, Jazz. I stay fit by working out in the gym, and hiking in the mountains with friends.
