About Me

Welcome to my Web page. My name is Alison Howard, OD. I am a native San Diegan, born at Camp Pendleton and raised in Chula Vista. I have been married for over 2 decades and have one child.

Biography

My parents were both raised during the Depression and were in the Navy during World War II. My father was a corpsman and x-ray technician, and my mom was a Navy nurse. My father went in the Navy as a sailor and retired as a Navy captain. My parents talked about the health field constantly and inspired me to have a health care career. My father told me I could be anything I wanted to be in life. I graduated from UC San Diego in 1983 with a degree in animal physiology, and I received a doctorate in optometry from Southern California College of Optometry in 1987. I have been practicing optometry at Kaiser Permanente since 1988. I want to help people, and I do that every day and learn a lot about life from my patients. I have been practicing optometry for over 2 decades. I believe every member should be respected and get total attention from his or her doctor. I listen to members and give them my full attention and the time they need. I am here for them, and my purpose is to give them high-quality care. I am very passionate about members seeing for their entire lives. My coworkers share this passion, and from the service representatives to the doctors to the optical staff, we at Bonita Medical Offices’ Vision Essentials aim to give you quality care.

About my practice

I learn something every day from my patients. I have learned that the most important things in life are to do things in moderation and have a positive attitude in all that you do. If you do these things, you can not only have a happy life but a very productive one.
