I am originally from Flagstaff, Arizona, and moved to the Northwest to attend Lewis & Clark College. I attended graduate school in upstate New York at Syracuse University. I moved back to Portland, Oregon, right after graduating and could not wait to get back to the atmosphere in the Northwest. I have always loved supporting people through various life transitions and struggles. My passion is helping people move past wounds and hurts towards a happier future.
My treatment philosophy is based on the view that change can be very difficult, and I feel one of the most important aspects of working together in therapy is establishing a therapeutic relationship that feels respectful and safe. I pride myself on being straightforward, honest, and high energy. I want to help connect people with their authentic and true selves. I incorporate a great deal of creativity and empathy into my therapeutic work and strongly believe that humor is an essential component of healing. I concentrate on designing an accepting and nonjudgmental environment where I can compassionately work with each person based on individual needs, goals, circumstances, and values. I believe that people can always make changes in their lives regardless of their past, present, or future circumstances. I work with the individual (or family) in a holistic sense, respectful of the individual's strengths and resources, as well as areas of need. I strive to create a safe and nurturing atmosphere in which people can be supported, heard, and encouraged in their efforts to change and grow. My background is in marriage and family therapy, and I provide services to children, teens, families, and adults through a cognitive behavioral approach. I see people for a variety of reasons, including depression; anxiety; life transitions/changes; behavioral issues; coping with grief, loss, or divorce; relationship issues; and anger.
I spend as much time as I can outdoors with my husband and very energetic chocolate Lab. I love running, going to yoga, expressing myself artistically, and hiking. I work hard to create and maintain friendships and connections in my life that make me feel good and help me focus on humor and renewed energy.
