I wanted to be a physician since I was 10 years old and have now been a practicing physician for 40 years. I was influenced by my family's primary care doctor; he made the world a better place. He was a good and generous man, he listened, he cared, he explained and he was there for us. More than 50 years ago, he made daily house calls for over a week when my mother was quite ill with pneumonia. Thankfully he helped her recover. I expressed my interest in his work and he encouraged me to become a doctor. Thus began a long journey that has been quite fruitful for me and I am indebted to him for his guidance. I consider him a role model to this day and I try to live up to the standards he taught me every day. Most days I have the best job in the world. I am married with one daughter in college. I enjoy tennis, hiking, classical music, sports, and travel.
My practice is limited to Urgent Care. I have extensive experience in emergency medicine and urgent care and I enjoy the challenges of acute care medicine. It is important for me to provide the very best medicine to my patients so I work hard to stay current with medical literature and rely heavily on evidence-based medicine. I want to understand my patients' needs and concerns. Making a personal connection with my patients is always a plus. I enjoy educating my patients and want my patients to share collaboratively in decision making. I have chosen to work as a Kaiser Permanente provider because I believe Kaiser Permanente takes great care of patients. I believe in our mission of health and prevention and I like to be part of an integrated health care system that puts the needs of the patient first.
I thrive when I maintain balance in my life. Key aspects of this balance include the regular participation in many activies, such as meditation, dog walking, time in nature, vigorous physical activity, learning new things, satisfying work, laughter, books, movies, theater, the arts, and genuine human interaction.
