Acerca de mí
I grew up in Ireland, where my father was a family doctor and my mother was a dentist. There I went to medical school and did my residency. I took my radiology board exams in London and again in the United States. At MD Anderson Cancer Center, University of Texas, and at Deaconess Hospital, Harvard Medical School I completed a fellowship in body imaging. In addition to my medical career I have published a book on Irish history and am currently working on a second book and a historical research paper.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
Medicine appealed to me as a caring profession where I believed I could make a positive contribution. The rapid technological advances in diagnostic imaging and the significant improvements in health care that it enabled led me to choose this field as my specialty. I am a fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists (England), a member of the American Board of Radiology, and a member of the Radiological Society of North America. I have published numerous articles on radiology in professional journals, and I have presented at several national meetings. I also serve on Kaiser Permanente's breast imaging team. Attending conferences, reading journals, and consulting with colleagues help me stay current with the most up-to-date medical research. At the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group the patients come first. The team approach utilized here allows for continuity and high-quality multi-specialty care. Although as a radiologist I don’t have as many direct patient interactions as I would in other specialties, I am always happy for the opportunity to connect with patients. They remind me of my life’s mission and my goal of providing optimal care that makes a positive difference in people’s lives.

I try to stay healthy physically and mentally by having a variety of activities outside of my work. I enjoy family time, hiking, traveling, and writing.
