Acerca de mí
Although I was born and raised in Buffalo, New York, my family is originally from Puerto Rico, and I’ve always yearned to live in a warm climate. After earning my bachelor's and master's degrees in physician assistant studies at D'Youville College, both in New York, I was blessed to have the opportunity to come to Maui as a traveling physician assistant. I immediately fell in love with the culture, community, and climate, so I’m thrilled to be living here permanently.
I dedicate my career first to God and then to my hard-working parents. They’re a wonderful example of a simple, humble, and loving couple who strove to make sure that their daughter would succeed in life. I love you, Mami and Papi!
Acerca de mi práctica médica
I’ve always loved helping people feel better physically, mentally, and spiritually. I believed that having a medical career would be a perfect way to achieve that goal throughout my life. It would also allow me to make a positive difference in far-flung places, where the need for medical care is often not fully met. Training in primary care has given me a broad base of knowledge and experience that I’ve been able to apply to other specialties such as emergency and urgent care medicine. Another of my interests is telemedicine—providing care from a distance with the aid of information technology.
To stay abreast of current medical research and practices, I regularly use the online service UpToDate, read medical journals, participate in continuing medical education programs, attend professional conferences, and consult with my colleagues.
Hawaii Permanente Medical Group demonstrates dedication to Kaiser Permanente members and the community every day. It’s also created a warm and supportive environment in which providers can succeed professionally while living purposeful, fulfilling lives. Being a part of this group is an honor.
In my practice I strive to treat each patient with compassion, taking into consideration the well-being of their bodies, minds, and souls. I like to learn their life stories, meet their close family members, and find common interests. This helps us to feel comfortable with each other so that I can deliver my best care.
Cómo vivo bien
Doing family activities, such as having a good meal and taking brisk walks in nature, helps me to decompress and reenergize for the week ahead. I enjoy gardening, cooking, crocheting, sewing, watching movies, tackling do-it-yourself projects, going on spontaneous road trips, and traveling the world. I also participate in medical missions in Cuba, where my fluency in Spanish helps me to be of greater assistance to others.
