Acerca de mí
I was born in Uganda, Africa and moved to the United States at age ten. Growing up in Africa, I witnessed devastating poverty resulting in diseases and realized that I had a strong desire to help others as a doctor. I settled in Hawaii in 1996 and am happily married with two grown children.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
As a family medicine physician I enjoy providing the full spectrum of care, especially the continuity from birth throughout the patient’s life and across multiple generations. I believe in relationship-based care for all of my patients and strive to reach out to those who do not come in and see me. I practice medicine that is based on evidence and feel that prevention is critically important. At the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group I have a strong, compassionate, multidisciplinary team to help me in caring for my patients. I also have available to me the most innovative and advanced electronic tools to make the right things easier to do. I have been with Kaiser Permanente for over a decade now and can sincerely say that I love what I do. The people who surround me every day encourage me and help me to recognize that I am exactly where I want to be. As the assistant associate medical director of Primary Care and Innovation, I believe in team-based care and am able to use my leadership skills towards increasing efficiency in care procedures for physicians and members. I get to know my patients and their families over time through face-to-face as well as mediated communication, like phone or email. Also, in my exam rooms I have pictures of my family and some of the places we have traveled to; these serve as great conversation starters and help my patients open up with me and connect.
Cómo vivo bien
Growing up my passion was playing tennis but now I exercise regularly by walking in the evenings. I also love to scuba dive, travel, hike and take walks on the beach. My two children are older now but we still find time to be together as a family during the summer and most holidays. My wife and I also attend international service trips to volunteer our medical skills to those in need.
