Acerca de mí
I was born and raised in San Francisco, California. In the 1980s I worked as an educator in a state funded women’s health clinic for refugee and low income patients. The need for medical practitioners with appreciation for cultural diversity and varied backgrounds was evident and I decided to pursue a career in medicine. I am now practicing in Hawaii where I live with my husband and two daughters.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
I enjoy the diversity of practice as an obstetrics and gynecology (Ob/Gyn) physician with its clinical and surgical base. I value providing care to women for whom I can also be a role model. I strive to have relationships with my patients based on trust and respect so they feel comfortable when talking to me. Within the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group, I am surrounded by talented and dedicated providers in all specialties. There is a sense of unity and teamwork surrounding the medical group which helps to increase the quality of care and satisfaction of our members. As the chief of the Ob/Gyn department in Hawaii, I try to provide a friendly and open atmosphere to all my patients in the exam room. My goal is to understand medical problems from the patient’s perspective and to help them interpret options for care in a language that they can understand. Taking care of generations of patients and hearing updates about their families is what I enjoy most about my work.
Cómo vivo bien
I try to keep a balance between work and family. When I am not working my family is my priority and I love being outdoors with them, especially going to the beach. I also love cooking at home and planning good healthy meals.
