Acerca de mí
I was born on the Isle of Palms, South Carolina in 1954. Both my father and mother were in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and were relocated to Honolulu in 1955. In 1960 our family moved to Marin County, California, a suburb north of San Francisco, where I grew up. My mother is an angel, my father was a co-founder of Visa, my sister is a physician assistant working at an emergency department, and my brother owns a financial planning company.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
Early in my adult life I had a business career ending as vice president/management supervisor of a large marketing and advertising agency in Los Angeles and New York. I later changed careers to pursue what for me would be a more meaningful life, one that would enable me to give back to those in need. I chose my specialty because it was interesting to me technically and personally; I was attracted to it because of its complexity and the intellectual stimulation it provided. At two Vascular Interventional Advances conferences in Las Vegas, I have presented on carotid disease. I also presented at two Kaiser Permanente national surgical symposiums. I co-authored an article on combined angioplasty and bypass graft that was published in the Journal of Vascular Surgery. To keep up-to-date with current medical research, I read articles on the Internet and attend medical conferences. As a member of the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group I am supported and encouraged to be the best I can be in my clinical practice. This is truly a compassionate organization. My philosophy of care is to personally connect with patients and to be truthful and empathetic. I most enjoy establishing bonds through eye contact, touch, and careful listening.
Cómo vivo bien
In my time away from work I cycle and train for triathlons, attend church, dabble in photography, and spend time with family.
