Dónde ejerzo mi práctica médica
Acerca de mí
I was born in Argentina and went to the National University of Cordoba for my medical degree and internal medicine internship. I then came to the U.S. and did a residency in internal medicine and fellowships in cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta. My board certifications are also in both cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology.
After spending a number of years practicing on the mainland, predominantly in the state of Washington, my wife and I were ready for a change of pace. We were excited to relocate to Hawaii because of the natural beauty here and the pervasive aloha spirit.
Both of my parents were physicians, and they were very influential in my life. After they passed, my older sister, another physician, mentored me through medical school. I’m blessed to have a wife who’s also a cardiologist. Initially I served as a mentor to her, but our roles have changed, and now I follow all of her advice.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
Medicine for me was a family business, and I quickly fell in love with the challenges this profession poses. Cardiac electrophysiology is a relatively new subspecialty that requires attention to detail and the spirit of a detective. It’s very satisfying to know that I’m enhancing my patients’ quality of life and improving their chances of long-term survival when I use the procedures available in my specialty. I’m interested in cardiac resynchronization using electronic devices, medical education, and promoting equal access to health care for all.
To stay current in medicine, I read my journals regularly, attend professional conferences, participate in continuing medical educations programs, confer with colleagues, and maintain affiliation with the Heart Rhythm Society.
Working with Hawaii Permanente Medical Group is personally rewarding for me, as I share the Kaiser Permanente vision of delivering high-quality, affordable health care. Collaborative medical providers and helpful support staff provider an excellent experience for our patients.
I believe in first educating patients about their conditions, then listening carefully to their concerns, expectations, cultural beliefs, and goals, and finally making shared decisions about treatment plans.
Cómo vivo bien
To maintain balance in my life, I ensure that I take adequate time to myself for reading, being creative, having conversations with my wife on long walks, and spending time with friends. Exercise, meditation, and biking help me to stay physically fit. I enjoy visits with family and other international travel, Mediterranean-style cooking, and learning about investment theories and economics.
