Acerca de mí
I was born in Victoria, Texas and grew up in Torrance, California. For both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees I went to the University of Nebraska and later earned my Doctorate of Health Science at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I’m now a certified PA by the National Council on Certification of Physician Assistants.
My terrific husband has been supportive of my endeavors all along the way. He continues to be my rock, always inspiring and encouraging me.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
Throughout my life I received wonderful care from my doctors whenever I was ill. These experiences, combined with a desire to be of help to others, sparked my interest in pursuing a medical career of my own. I especially enjoy the family medicine specialty, where I get to take care of whole families—from babies to seniors—and have the opportunity to develop meaningful relationships with my patients over the years. Urgent care is another area that interests me.
To stay on top of research and recommendations in medicine, I access online services, take continuing medical education courses, read articles in several professional journals, and confer with my colleagues in various specialties. My membership in the Hawaii Association of Physician Assistants also gives me ready access to updates on current developments in my field.
Hawaii Permanente Medical Group puts patient needs first, and in my opinion delivers excellent care to the people of our community. The attractive facilities, the modern, user-friendly systems, and the helpful support staff all contribute to a great work environment. I feel very fortunate to be part of an organization of such high caliber.
My approach is to care for my patients with respect, compassion, and understanding. I love to hear about their lives, including their families and their interests. I strive to treat them as I’d want my own family to be treated, adhering to the most up-to-date practice guidelines.
Cómo vivo bien
My faith helps me stay grounded and in good spirits. I practice meditation and yoga, and I exercise regularly. In my spare time I enjoy cooking, photography, hiking the many mountain trails on the island, and exploring. I’m also involved with a fish pond preservation project, which I find very rewarding.
