Acerca de mí
My mother and father moved to the U.S. from China to provide a better life for our family. My father stopped first in Honolulu and then moved to San Francisco, where I was born and raised. My parents always inspired me to work hard—without their support and encouragement I don’t think I’d be where I am today.
I earned my Bachelor of Science at University of California, Los Angeles and went to Michigan State University College of Human Medicine for my medical training. I did my internship and residency in family medicine at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center where I served as chief resident and am now a board-certified family medicine physician. I served as a pre-med student mentor and was honored with the Tom Johnson, MD Award for Physician Leadership and Excellence in the Art of Medicine and the Care of Patients.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
Being a physician gives meaning to my life. I love working with people and helping them to improve their lives. Family practice allows me to build long-term relationships and to care for entire families over multiple generations. A medical career also provides the opportunity for a lifetime of learning. Every day I’m challenged by the numerous and varied situations I encounter in my practice. My professional interests include women's health, pediatrics, and preventive medicine.
To stay current in medical research and practice recommendations, I take part in continuing medical education programs, access the online resource UpToDate, and read the American Academy of Family Practice and Family Medicine journals. I’m also affiliated with professional organizations such as the American Academy of Family Physicians, the California Academy of Family Physicians, Hawaii Academy of Family Physicians, and the Gold Humanism Honor Society, which provide the latest information.
I believe that Hawaii Permanente Medical Group operates on the forefront of primary and preventive care. I believe its innovative practices and multi-disciplinary team approach help to ensure the best care for patients. I’m proud and grateful to be a part of this organization.
My philosophy is to treat patients with the same respect and compassion I’d want for my own family. I like to hear my patients’ stories and learn about their families, interests, and concerns.
Cómo vivo bien
I try to stay healthy by maintaining work-life balance, spending quality time with family members, eating a healthy diet, working out, paddling, and going hiking. I also enjoy trying out new restaurants and traveling to new places with my husband.
