I was born and raised in Poughkeepsie, New York. Although my wife followed me up and down the East Coast of the Mainland during my training, she wanted to move to a warmer climate after I completed my training. We now live in Hawaii with our son and two daughters. My father was a doctor who enjoyed every minute of his work and was very dedicated to his patients. I chose to pursue medicine because I wanted to feel a similar satisfaction with my life's work.
I studied biomedical engineering in college and was fascinated by electrophysiology, which is the study the electrical properties of cells and tissues. Being given the opportunity to use this understanding to help treat patients with cardiac rhythm abnormalities is something I find remarkable.I believe in partnering with the patient to discover what treatment plan works best for each individual. My patients’ dedication and proactive involvement in their own health is something I find uplifting and encouraging. While completing my fellowship in Washington, D.C., I was fortunate to be a part of the health care discussions and policy changes that our nation is going through. I further supplemented this with a fellowship in health policy and a master’s degree in business administration. I have completed fellowships in both cardiovascular diseases and in clinical cardiac electrophysiology. I am board certified in cardiac electrophysiology.
Swimming and practicing yoga help me to stay physically and mentally healthy. I take part in the open water swims on the island, which is not something I would have an opportunity to do in most other places in the world. I enjoy spending time with my wife and children, and especially love watching my kids grow up.
