Acerca de mí
I grew up in a small town on the island of Jamaica. My family emigrated to Savannah, Ga. during my late teens, where I went on to study nursing. I enjoyed my work as a nurse, but felt drawn to be more involved with the patients and their families from a preventive standpoint. I was driven to study medicine, and I completed my training in family medicine.
Family medicine allows me to interact with and empower not only the individual patient, but the entire family and significant others to be more involved in their health and well-being.
I have had a blessed life, and I have two adult children and two grandchildren.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
I feel privileged to be a member of the Family Medicine Department at Kaiser Permanente. I enjoy caring for members of all ages, from newborns to our geriatric members. I love to impress the gift of wisdom upon my adolescents, whether taken as a grain of salt or a hint of gold. I try to maintain a staunch footing in the forefront of chronic disease, stressing prevention. At Kaiser Permanente, I am surrounded by a supportive staff and I am provided with the tools to educate our members. This allows our members to be fully involved in the health care decision-making process.
Cómo vivo bien
I believe in practicing what I preach, therefore living healthy is important to me. I strive to find balance, both emotionally and physically. My family is the center of my life. We have large gatherings every holiday, and I make a quick run to Savannah whenever I hear "crab boil!" I also enjoy taking my grandchildren to the park or just going for long walks on the trails near home.
I love to travel, and I gain emotional balance by traveling back to Jamaica, where I do whatever I can to improve the lives of those around me. I gain energy by walking barefoot on the sandy beach that is down the lane from my home there.
