I grew up in Queens, a borough of New York City. I decided to become a physician in seventh grade, and picked the specialty of radiology during my third year of medical school. After becoming board certified as a neuroradiologist, I spent one year in academic medicine and 16 years in private practice. I joined Kaiser Permanente in 2002. If I could redo my choices, I would have joined Kaiser Permanente immediately after I finished my training because of our evidence-based approach to everything involved with patient care. I love being able to make diagnoses on a daily basis and the variety of working with practitioners from all different specialties. My wife of 26 years is still my best friend. We have music in common as I have played piano since I was six years old, and she sings and plays the flute. In sixth grade, I won a NYC-wide contest, which led to a solo performance in Carnegie Hall. It is a memory that I will always cherish. My wife and I have three wonderful sons, with plans to be a lawyer, a dentist and a real estate magnate (he hopes!).

The department of radiology provides state-of-the-art imaging. We have numerous radiologists with specialty training in neuroradiology, nuclear medicine, interventional radiology, pediatrics and body imaging. We strive to help all of our referring physicians make correct and timely diagnoses every day. I am currently in charge of quality assurance for my department and previously served as radiology’s department chief for three years.

After seeing my father suffer with heart disease since I was eight years old, I committed my life to eating healthy and exercising regularly. Almost every day, I go for walks, ride my bicycle, use the elliptical machine and/or do low-weight resistive training.I basically follow the Mediterranean diet, including fresh fruits and vegetables, olive oil, mixed nuts, fish, poultry, pasta, rice and whole-grain breads, with little red meat. For the last 20 years, I have worked with an organization that helps new immigrants in Atlanta find housing and employment. My wife and I do fundraising for the Atlanta Symphony and the Atlanta Ballet. In addition, my hobbies include spending time with my wife and sons, spending time with friends, playing tennis, playing the piano and reading.
