Acerca de mí
I was born in Motor City, but grew up in Indiana. I have known that I wanted to be a psychologist since sixth grade. I remember my teacher asking the class to write down what we wanted to be when we grew up and "psychologist" was what came to me. While I did not know the full scope of what that meant, I knew that I wanted to help people heal wounds that others could not see. I never looked back and never once questioned or doubted my decision. I have really enjoyed my journey to completing my doctoral degree. I endured ice storms and blizzards during my undergraduate training. Then I moved to New York City, which felt like home the moment I made it to the concrete jungle! NYC and all of its diversity and opportunities are at the core of who I am. My path to my doctoral program took me to South Florida where friends became family. I also remembered my love for warm weather and that the ocean is one of the most amazing places to be! Georgia is a great balance of the many places I have been and the many interests I have, which includes practicing psychology. I feel honored to be a part of others' journeys.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
As a therapist, I am constantly honored by the courage and honesty of those who come to my office seeking support. I believe it is a privilege to travel with someone on their path, no matter the length of time. It is my goal to help our members learn to find and develop their strengths and achieve their healing goals. I have enjoyed working in private practice and have been passionate about seeking specialty training in areas of chronic childhood abuse and eating disorders. I also work with those dealing with depression, anxiety and relationship concerns. Coming to Kaiser Permanente has been a great opportunity to expand on what I already do, particularly by being part of a multi-disciplinary team dedicated to treating patients suffering from eating disorders.
Cómo vivo bien
Basically, I try to practice what I preach. As a psychologist, I emphasize self-care to the members I meet. This can come in a variety of forms, such as taking a walk, reading a book or tapping into creative processes as a way to express thoughts and feelings. While I am no artist, I really enjoy the process of creativity because it is an outlet limited only by the boundaries of imagination. Another way that I thrive is by managing my stress and health through massage therapy, enjoying time with friends and family and exploring new places and trying different activities in the city of Atlanta.
