Acerca de mí
I am originally from the twin island state of Trinidad and Tobago, and I grew up in a small fishing village called Mayaro. My undergraduate university training was at the University of the West Indies in Trinidad and my medical school training was at Howard University in Washington, D.C.I moved to Atlanta in 1992 to help start a medical residency training program at Grady Memorial Hospital. I spent 14 years at Grady as part of the faculty of Morehouse School of Medicine. I joined Kaiser Permanente in 2006, but still maintain a volunteer faculty appointment at Morehouse School of Medicine as Associate Professor of Medicine. At an early age, I was always interested in sciences, which influenced my decision to become a physician. However, before becoming a physician, I was a bank clerk, lab technician at a food factory and just prior to entering medical school, a chemistry teacher at an all-girls high school.I am married and have three children.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
I have been a member of the Gastroenterology Department since joining Kaiser Permanente in 2006. I enjoy what I do because I am interested in nutrition and good health. My special interests are colorectal cancer screenings and problems related to excessive weight.
Cómo vivo bien
In my free time, I enjoy outdoor gardening activities, reading and foreign travel. I was a volunteer physician at the 1996 Olympic Games held in Atlanta. I have been on medical missions to South Africa and Jamaica, and I periodically volunteer at church related health fairs. I also help coach my son's soccer team at the YMCA.
