Sí, acepto pacientes nuevos.
I come from a small family with big southern roots. Both of my parents are natives of South Carolina, but I am a native New Yorker. We relocated to Georgia to be closer to family and I fell in love with the warm weather and our two little dogs fell in love with chasing the Georgia frogs! Our daughter is in college and is also considering a career in medicine. Our son runs cross country track in high school. I really enjoy spending time with my family. As a physician, I believe in the importance of balanced healthy lifestyle. Growing up in the hustle and bustle of city living taught me the importance of learning how slow down and rejuvenate your mind, body and spirit.
I specialize in internal medicine and have been in practice for over 20 years. In the past, I have worked in correctional health and inner city hospitals under very challenging conditions. This has taught me that no matter who my patients are or what my patients may be going through, that at the end of the day, people are people and we all deserve good health care. I strongly believe that patients become empowered to do better when they are given knowledge that is easy to understand and the tools needed to jump into action. In New York, I worked as an HIV specialist from 2002 until 2015 and loved it. My patients often had too many health issues to even count on one hand. Coaching my patients on how to manage multiple medications, side effects and yet remain optimistic was a daily challenge that turned into true joy as patients achieved their goals. My motto is to attack all problems one small chunk at a time. I strongly believe that through good teamwork we can be successful in helping all of our members maintain good health.
I am a true lover of arts and crafts and anything related to art. I may not be able to sew, but if you give me a hot glue gun, I can create anything! In college I considered majoring in art, but my love of the sciences won. Maintaining balance in my life is very important to me and finding ways to alleviate stress is key. I love to paint pictures, draw and decorate. Georgia is big on sports, but on the weekend you would be more likely to find me tending to my garden than at a sporting event.
