I grew up in Michigan, in the Detroit suburbs. I met my wife while I was in medical school over 25 years ago. Before coming to Kaiser Permanente, we spent over 18 years in Central Florida where I completed my residency training. Our three children were born in Orlando, Fla., and the youngest is now in high school. They grow up so fast!Growing up, I wanted to either be a major league baseball player or a doctor. I played travel baseball in high school and had a lifetime thrill of playing in the 1976 Mickey Mantle World Series in Texas. My team from the Detroit area came in third in the nation! I thought I had a better chance of becoming a doctor though, so I hung up my baseball spikes my senior year of high school and set my goal on medicine. I wanted to work with people and have always enjoyed science, so medicine has been a great fit.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
My board certification is family medicine. I currently limit my practice to 18 years and older. I think of my role as being an enabler, motivator and teacher. Information is power. If I can pass on the right information to our members and help motivate them to move along a healthy path, I believe I am helping them maximize their health. One reason I chose to practice at Kaiser Permanente is it gives me many tools to help enable patients to maximize their health. These tools include wonderful specialists, a top-notch electronic medical record system and clinical pharmacists, to name a few.
