Acerca de mí
I was born in Nairobi, Kenya, and I speak Swahili, so "Hakuna matata!"
I moved to Atlanta after high school. After completing college with a degree in business administration, I worked in banking for a few years before I became ill and was cared for by a nurse that changed my life forever. She empowered me by educating me on the what, when, how and why of preventive care; It was the best lifetime gift I could take home to my family. It reminds me of the quote, "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime."
This was the beginning of my nursing career. I completed my bachelor's degree in nursing and worked as a registered nurse for seven years at a local hospital in a medical unit and ICU. I later completed my master's degree in nursing at University of North Georgia and became certified as a family nurse practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and have worked at Kaiser Permanente since then. I am also board certified by the National Certification Board of Diabetes Educators (NCBDE) as a Certified Diabetes Educator.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
I am an advocate of patient education and shared decision making. While providers know about the disease, tests, and treatment, the patient knows more about their body, circumstances, and goals for life. Collaboration between the providers and patients, in addition to evidence-based medicine, leads to improved outcomes for our members.
I am also a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), United Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (UAPRN) and American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE).

Along with nutrition and exercise, getting quality sleep is essential and vital to our well-being. I take this seriously and plan my day to ensure I get my 7-8 hours of sleep daily. An early morning run refreshes and sets the pace for my day and a weekly yoga class at Kaiser Permanente restores my energy and balance.
My husband and I have two daughters that love swimming and keep us on our toes.
