Acerca de mí
To work with and for women is both a privilege and an honor. I spent my childhood growing up in Africa, where I watched my mother valiantly care for the sick and injured with only her medical knowledge and very limited supplies. It was there that the inspiration to become a doctor and a women's health practitioner was born. Since graduating from medical school in 2002, I have had the opportunity to work with and care for women in various places including Tanzania, Malawi and in the U.S. Navy. I consider it a blessing to be able to care for the special needs of women in the field of urogynecology.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
I am a urogynecologist in the Ob/Gyn Department at Kaiser Permanente. We are focused on providing the most high-quality medical and surgical care for women with problems of the pelvic floor and lower urinary tract. Philosophically, because many of the issues I deal with impact a woman's quality of life, I find it important to educate women to help them make their own decisions about their care. I do this by providing our members with information about their disease, the impact the problem has on their lifestyle and the treatment options that are available to them. Our staff works hard to make sure that any questions and concerns are answered satisfactorily and in a timely fashion.
Cómo vivo bien
I have always believed that living a balanced life helps me be a better doctor to my patients, a valuable colleague to my staff and partners, and the best person I can be for my family and friends. I do this by staying active, both physically and mentally. I also take time each day to improve myself in some way, such as reading about a topic of interest, enjoying my hobbies or drawing inspiration from my connections with mentors, friends and loved ones. I am also active in my church, and I enjoy volunteering for local health programs and global humanitarian missions.
