Acerca de mí
I joined Kaiser Permanente in 2011 after practicing pediatrics in many different capacities over the past 20 years. I began my career in a community medical center after completing my residency in 1991. Four years and three children later (all under age four), I changed gears and focused on research with a special interest in Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). As part of an academic program, teaching and supervision of medical students and residents were also a part of my responsibilities. I later decided to be hospital-based and worked primarily with the parents of medically fragile infants who required cardiorespiratory monitoring once discharged home. I then worked in private practice for five years. I am now with Kaiser Permanente and loving it!
Acerca de mi práctica médica
I am thankful for my gifts, skills and talents and commit to using them responsibly when caring for our members. It is such an honor to be entrusted with the care of children from birth until young adulthood. I also try to make a conscious effort to listen with a "third ear" in order to cue in on issues that may not be readily apparent, but may be the real reason for the visit. It is important for me to treat the whole patient and not just the physical being. Our pediatric team works so well together and strives to make each member's experience informative and pleasant. We hope the work we do and the way we do it brings a smile to everyone we come in contact with each day.
Cómo vivo bien
Balancing family life and career is of utmost importance to me, and I enjoy spending quality time with my family doing pleasurable activities. I have been growing my own vegetables and fruits for the past two years and enjoy trying new recipes and preparing healthy meals from the harvest. I also enjoy bird-watching and have become quite the ornithologist. I have a feeding station and bird habitat set up at home, and I have observed over 30 different species. The soothing sounds of their songs gently wake me up each morning and pleasantly ease me into my day. As I head off to work, I think to myself, "What a blessing it is to look forward to going to work and doing what I love to do. It is going to be a good day!"
