I was born and raised in the south of France, in the beautiful city of Marseille. Spending time following our family doctor in his office and realizing the positive impact he had on his patients sparked my interest in medicine. Having decided to become a physician by my early teen years, I came to the U.S. after high school with hopes of studying medicine. I have been here ever since. My medical training led me to various regions of the U.S., providing me with many opportunities to interact with people of various backgrounds and cultures. I truly believe that experience helped me become a more caring, empathetic and well-rounded person. My love for treating complex diseases and improving the quality of life of my patients led to my interest in surgery. During medical school, I quickly developed a passion for surgery because of the powerful and immediate impact it can have on the health of our patients. I am fully committed to taking care of our members to the best of my ability, and I always remember to treat each and every patient as if they were a member of my family.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
Before I joined Kaiser Permanente, I was in a general surgery practice in New Mexico. While I was there, I became interested in advanced surgical technology and minimally invasive (keyhole) surgery. I realized that patients who underwent minimally invasive procedures had less post-operative pain, were discharged from the hospital earlier, and were also more likely to go back to work earlier than those who underwent traditional "open" operations with larger incisions. Therefore, I decided to move to Hershey, Penn., where I successfully completed a grueling one-year fellowship in minimally invasive and robotic surgery. During this fellowship, I learned how to perform very complex operations through small incisions using the latest and most advanced technology, as well as performing robotic assisted procedures. What I love most about Kaiser Permanente is that I work with an extraordinarily gifted group of surgeons who share my goal of performing at the highest level. Our team commits themselves to continuously improving their surgical skills to provide the safest, most up-to-date surgical treatments.
Cómo vivo bien
I try to practice what I preach. I truly believe that many of today's diseases can be easily prevented by focusing on healthy eating and exercise. I try to exercise 4 to 5 times a week, combining aerobic and strength training workouts 30 minutes at a time. I find it relaxing and it is one of the best ways to strengthen myself physically, mentally and spiritually. I am a big fan of MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) and I have practiced Brazilian jujitsu, boxing, Judo, karate and completed various self-defense classes. In my free time, I also enjoy spending time with my wonderful wife and my three beautiful children. We love to watch movies and play outdoors. We also enjoy traveling, especially internationally.
