Acerca de mí
I was born in Texas but my father was in the military so I grew up moving all over the U.S. I always loved watching doctors treat my various wounds when I was a kid and seemed naturally drawn to surgery. While my mother passed out in the corner, I would watch them sew up a laceration with fascination. I came to Colorado to do my surgical training and never left. I am a Christian, husband and father of four. We enjoy skiing/snowboarding, hiking, camping and travel. We have spent a fair amount of time in Argentina as my wife is Argentine. I thought I spoke Spanish until I went to Argentina and learned that I really just know medical Spanish, but I am completely unable to carry on a three-hour conversation about politics.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
I am a board certified general surgeon with a special interest in thoracic surgery and robotics. During my surgical training, I was mentored by several thoracic surgeons and that gave me a passion for thoracic surgery that continues to this day. At Kaiser Permanente, we offer state-of-the-art surgical treatment and have pioneered techniques for locating lung nodules during surgery. And yet we provide these technological advancements in a caring and compassionate environment. When meeting a patient, I seek to listen and understand my patients’ questions and concerns. I work with my patients to make treatment plans that meet their needs and lifestyle. We have a very team-oriented approach and I work closely with my partners, our physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and office staff to provide coordinated care to my patients. While I try to make myself as available as possible, I am blessed to be a part of a great group of surgeons who take excellent care of my patients if I am not available.
Como vivo bien
I have been blessed with faith, a wonderful wife and four kids who keep me balanced and humble. I am also humbled by my patients who often fight through so much difficulty with courage and dignity. It is an honor to be invited into the most intimate parts of another human's life and to participate in their care. I also thrive by volunteering. I have a special fondness for Africa and enjoy performing volunteer surgery in that part of the world. I love the people in Africa who have so much joy despite such meager circumstances.
