Kaiser Permanente provider
Idioma que hablo:
Sí, en mi consultorio se aceptan pacientes nuevos. Es posible que sea necesaria una remisión.
I was born in Detroit but raised on the west coast of Florida. College was not in my plans but I stumbled into attending a wonderful school, Stetson University, where I made lifelong friends and was urged to attend medical school. This was not something that someone from my neck of the woods generally did. I am so thankful to those friends who encouraged me! I attended medical school and residency at the University of South Florida College of Medicine and practiced in an underserved area for three years before moving to Denver in 1996. This is where I found my home. After moving to Colorado, I met my husband. We have two teenage daughters whom we cherish and a cat named Boo.
After practicing internal medicine in a Kaiser Permanente medical office for a couple of years, I came to realize that my true passion is geriatric medicine. In 1998, I began working with Kaiser Permanente’s nursing home rounding service. I absolutely love this work and caring for our elderly members. Over the years, this department has evolved and I have worked in skilled rehabilitation, long-term care, assisted living and even home care. At this time, my practice is 100 percent long-term care. In my practice, I want to provide excellent and appropriate medical care. This involves a dialogue so that I can learn what my patients’ goals are. I strive to listen and understand and make the very best informed decisions for and with my patients. I also like to show kindness and affection for the wonderful people who entrust their medical care to me. I am known to be a hugger.
My family is the center of my life. We enjoy traveling together and have traveled to many faraway destinations. Some of that travel has been for volunteer work. We have volunteered as a family for four years in a row with a ministry at the Guatemala City dump, and more recently with a mission in the Dominican Republic. These opportunities help others but also help keep us grounded and grateful. At home, I love cooking fun and nutritious meals for my family. Recently, we have been trying out homemade pasta, with some successes and some failures!
