Acerca de mí
I am originally from Michigan and did my undergraduate and medical school training at Michigan State University. I have an undergraduate degree in Nutritional Science. While there are many wonderful things about Michigan, the call of the mountains, outdoor lifestyle and sunny weather was too strong to ignore. I came out to Denver for my residency training at Rose Family Medicine and decided to stay in Colorado. I was in private practice most of my career. I started out of residency doing both inpatient and outpatient medicine, and did obstetrics for six years. I decided to work on having a better work-life balance, and focused on outpatient medicine. I had my own practice for seven years and then worked at Medical Center of Aurora South for six years. I was very involved with the hospital, and was chief of the Family Medicine Department for seven years, among other positions. I love the outdoors and go hiking and biking as much as free time will allow. I did many of the 14ers when I came out to Colorado. I am married with one young son, and we are all able to enjoy the great outdoors now that he is getting a little older.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
I love being a family doctor since it allows me to look at the whole patient, rather than seeing people as different parts. I do many office procedures such as IUD insertions, joint injections and simple mole removals. I love all ages, which is why I chose family medicine, and am very comfortable with and enjoy pediatrics. I feel it is important to be a good listener and have the time each visit to address all the issues you have so you feel comfortable about your health, both mentally and physically. I like to focus on eating healthy, exercise and overall lifestyle approaches, working together on a plan for your health.
Como vivo bien
I thrive by exercising regularly with biking, hiking and skiing—both downhill and cross country. I feel we all need hobbies outside of our daily work. Hobbies help rejuvenate how we feel about our work, and help us come to work refreshed and appreciative of what we do every day. I love to read and alternate between fiction and nonfiction. My favorite volunteer work has been at the Samaritan House, a homeless shelter. Homelessness is a complex and frustrating issue, so anything I can do to help this situation is a strong passion of mine. There is not enough time in the day to do all we would like to do, yet I feel it is important to have a few things in life outside of work to keep us well rounded and interested in the world around us.
