I was born in Montrose, Colorado and have lived in Norwood, Montrose, Grand Junction, Carbondale, Colorado Springs, Boulder and Denver. I love this state and find it very hard to leave! When I was 11 years old I was a gymnast and kept a goals notebook. My 10-year goal was to be in the Olympics or work in the emergency room. As a gymnast, I enjoyed the importance of being a strong individual and team member. The same thing attracted me to emergency medicine. I enjoy working with a great team of physicians, PAs, nurses, techs and pharmacists. We each do our part to take great care of our patients in the various unscheduled settings in which emergency physicians work. I enjoy seeing patients of all backgrounds, ages, and states of health, and helping patients when they have an emergent or urgent health care need.
I am honored to have a job where I have the privilege to take care of patients and practice emergency medicine. I strive to deliver exceptional care in coordination with the rest of the team in the emergency room. My job in the emergency department is to identify emergent conditions and to provide the necessary treatment, in accordance with patient wishes. If an emergent condition is not present, I enjoy the chance to spend more time with my patients and come up with a plan for their care and follow-up. I try to do as much as possible to assure the next step is set up for my patients, such as a follow-up appointments, studies or referrals.
In my free time outside of work, I enjoy taking advantage of the great Colorado outdoors. I love to road bike, hike, snow shoe and cross country ski. Mt. Evans is one of my favorite bike rides! Besides sports, I also enjoy spending time with my family and friends, and traveling. I recently went to Mt. Kilimanjaro. Our entire group made it to the top! We also raised more than $19,341 (the elevation of Mt. Kilimanjaro) for Charity Water. I enjoy combining travel with medical work, fundraising for NGOs, biking or hiking.
